PLEASE NOTE: The Steam Locomotive #15 repairs are underway. No date has yet been set to return the locomotive to service. Our Diesel Engine #6 will pull the train on excursions until such time as our Steam Engine is repaired.

By becoming a volunteer you help the continued preservation and operation of the museum’s historic railroad equipment. In addition, volunteers are the backbone of our museum, providing the helping hands that go into maintaining and keeping up the collection and grounds as well as our many amazing events. Please consider joining today and becoming part of preserving nearly a century of railroad history in Western Washington!

Volunteer FAQ

There is no minimum number of hours required.

No, but we encourage you to have a voice by joining the organization. You will then be welcome to attend meetings and vote.

You must be 14+ yrs. to volunteer. All minors must have parental consent.

We have many volunteers who have favorite events, such as The Polar Express, Eggspress, or in the gift shop and greeting the Dinner Train guests. Other volunteers prefer brush clearing, rail-tie replacements or working on the rails & train cars.  These do not require long term commitments. We will happily work around your time constraints, and welcome you when you have the time and desire to help.
